After finishing your MBBS Abroad from a medical University approved by the MCI, Medical Council of India, only one hurdle left for the aspirants and that is FMGE. Foreign Medical Graduates Examination is a licensure examination, popularly known as MCI Screening test. It is conducted by the National Board of Examinations.

Who is qualified to give FMGE?

Foreign Medical Graduates Examination is a mandatory requirement, for the Indian people having a medical degree from MCI recognized International University, to start practice medicine in India. In 2002, this screening exam was introduced as a qualifying exam for the Indian aspirants holding degrees of the foreign lands. Otherwise, an aspirant can’t start practicing in India. It is also important that the Medical Institute where the aspirants completed their MBBS Abroad degree should be listed in the World Health Organization international directory of Medical Schools.

When to give FMGE?

In June and December, for foreign medical graduates, the Medical Council of India screening test is conducted two times in a year. Generally, the aspirants get back to India after the completion of their MBBS Abroad program and look for the crash course for the preparation of FMGE up to the month of September in order to give their first attempt in the month of December.
